Halloween '08 Gig Guide and Pump Up

k-ron Oct 29, 2008
There is no shortage of what to do or ideas on what to wear for Halloween this year and since it is almost upon us, lets get ready. Halloween falls on a Friday this year, which means that for the next three years my favorite holiday will be over a weekend (which is always a bonus). While I can't give you the low down on everything going on,  a few major music events jumped out as being the hot spots for Halloween '08. Those in DC, Vegas, Chicago, San Diego and Los Angeles read carefully ... a lot is going on!

If you are in the Virginia or Washington, DC area the boys of PATD probably have some extremely kooky Halloween costumes planned for their performance on 10/31.
Rock Band Live - Fairfax, VA at the Patriot Center
Lineup Includes: Panic at the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Plain White T's and The Cab

If you will be spending Halloween evening in the Las Vegas area and you are looking to hang out with some of the poppiest emo punk rockers in town then head over to the SassyBack Tour. Alex Suarez of Cobra Starship has already informed us that he will be hitting up sin city in full effect.
The SassyBack Tour - Las Vegas, NV
Lineup Includes: Cobra Starship, Forever The Sickest Kids, Hit The Lights and Sing It Loud

Those spending Halloween in the land down under, please be sure to let us all know how it goes, because Australia seemed to have more festivals and spooky related events then anywhere on the map. The one that jumped out as being the most fun to me ...
Rihanna & Chris Brown in Brisbane, Australia
Venue: Brisbane Entertainment Centre

Halloween in New York City means celebrations until dawn.. New York stays up later then your average city, therefore you should bring your costume make-up in your purses, so you can touch-up on the go.
The Misfits Halloween Night
Lineup: The Misfits
Venue: BB Kings in New York, NY

After searching for things to do on Halloween in Chicago, I ended up on weather.com and found out that Halloween in the Midwest might be spent in the snow. So girls be sure not to dress too slutty, prepare to wear costumes that will keep you warm while trick or treating. For those that are in Chicago and want to stay inside, I have four fabulous shows I recommend you attend.

The boys of Kings of Leon put on a real rock n' roll show and there is now way they could find costumes scary enough to make watching these hotties displeasing.
Lineup Includes: Kings of Leon, We Are Scientists and The Stills
Venue: Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL

Coheed & Cambria fans are so hardcore that I can't imagine any amount of snow stopping them from rocking out on Halloween. Make your way to the Neverender, No World For Tomorrow tour on Halloween.
Lineup Includes: Coheed and Cambria
Venue: Riviera Theater in Chicago, IL

For all you Bright Eyes fans, Conor Oberst has still got it going on, he just has a new band. This band is funky, folky and guaranteed to rock your Halloween world.
Lineup Includes: Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band
Venue: Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL

Break out your glow sticks and your dancing shoes. Villains (2 electro DJ's from LA) are bringing the sounds of Daft Punk and Hot Chip to Chicago.
Event: Dark Wave Disco Halloween
Lineup Includes: Villains

Alright now ready to breakdown the premiere shows in California (San Diego, Los Angeles and the OC).

On Halloween everyone can have an excuse to compromise integrity, morality and principles; however, the guys in All Time Low are going to compromise for money. The Money Tour San Diego show on 10/31 is sold out, but the experience will be shared on Buzznet in the tour community.
Lineup Includes: All Time Low, Every Avenue, Mayday Parade and The Maine
Venue: Soma

What better place in the world to be for Halloween then in Hollywood or Los Angeles, CA. After all even the celebrities dress-up and all those starving actresses and actors actually get to feel like they are making it, behind a mask!

I will be at the Haunted Hard Fest dancing my ass off to Crystal Castles & Justice among 10,000 other people. This event is sold out, but don't worry pictures will surface later in the weekend.
Lineup Includes: Justice, Soulwax, Simian Mobile Disco, Boys Noize, Deadmau5, Crystal Castles, Crookers, DJ AM, Jason Bentley, Destructo, Daedelus, N.A.S.A., Luckyiam, Paparazzi, Marshal Barnes, Keith 2.0
Venue: The Shrine Expo Hall

A more trendy and scenester event (per-say) will be going down at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA. The paparazzi will be stalking Hollywood Blvd as the historic and kind of spooky hotel will be infested on Halloween with celebs and musicians to spot. I am just curios, does Marilyn Manson dress up for Halloween?
Venue: Halloween At The Roosevelt
Lineup Includes: Marilyn Manson, Mix Master Mike, The Sounds and Mei Lwun

Recently the Hollywood Palladium an epic Hollywood venue just re-opened. On Halloween the doors will open for  a consecutive three night performance run for Rise Against. The speakers are fresh and violently loud at the Palladium, so make sure ear plugs go with your costume!

No matter where in the world you live there is something to do for Halloween. Don't know what you are wearing? Our friends over at Stereogum have a top 10 Trendy Pop Star Costume list that might inspire you. Buzznet member Chasingstars has some costume suggestions for you here.  If you don't feel like going out sit at home and watch a horror flick or carve a pumpkin.

Leave a comment and tell us what you are up to and any Halloween suggestions you might have!
