Letting Lindsay Lohan On Stage Was Lily Allen's Only Mistake

k-ron Apr 03, 2009

Lily Allen was ridiculously adorable at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on April 2nd and the overly anticipated arrival of her back in the US was well worth the wait. Opening for Lily Allen was Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, just about my favorite pop-electro band in the music scene right now.

Some may feel like they are watching Kids Incorporated when they see the teen pop musicians of Natalie Portman's Shaved Head dancing on stage, but NPSH knows how to entertain an audience of all ages, making them a great opening act for Lily. Natalie Portman's Shaved Head vocalist and guitarist Luke Smith (pictured below) might look like a Jonas Brother, but his spunk and ability to dance in really skinny jeans puts him in a league of performers 2009 music listeners must start to embrace. Lily Allen and Natalie Portman's Shaved Head are the perfect pop tour to set a precedence of what we should expect when we pay $40.00 for a show.

Lily came on stage as triumphant and theatre like as Roxy Hart in the musical Chicago. Dressed in sparkly booty shorts, a bustier and lace flapper like bunny ears not even the smoke and fog on stage could keep Lily from dazzling us with her presence. The lights and the backdrop on the stage flashed Lily, Lily, Lily - certainly not letting anyone forget who they are watching perform on stage.

The lyrics on Lily's new abum It's Not Me, It's You reveals a lot more of Lily's feelings and personal life experiences then her previous album Alright, Still. Tracks on It's Not Me, It's You including '22' and 'Not Fair' appeal to just about every girl who has had a breakup or a unfair relationship. It is easy to find comfort in music when you can tell a musician is releasing their true emotions. Lily's performance didn't shy from being explicitly blunt on emotion and innuendos of girl power, making it extremely comforting to watch her, even when she held nothing back singing 'Fuck You'.

I left before the last song to avoid the obnoxious traffic jam that occurs in the parking lot at The Wiltern. Of course, my luck - I missed Lily covering Britney Spear's 'Womanizer' and LiLo making a run onto Lily's stage to surprise the crowd. Fortunatley some fan in the audience YouTubed footage of this performance.

It's pretty obsurd that when you leave particular shows in L.A. like Lily Allen, Katy Perry or Janes Addiction, the venue is surrounded by paparazzi just waiting for their money shot of a celeb leaving a venue drunk or on drugs. Well last night all the action went down inside the venue and I have to say letting Lindsay Lohan on stage may have been Lily's only mistake.
