December 14, 2007Catpower's "Jukebox" might just be played on my Jukebox 24/7
I just got an early preview of Cat Power's highly anticipated album "Jukebox."
Picture yourself in a smokey diner late at night waiting for your man (or woman) to arrive, so you can say your goodbyes before you head out on a solo roadtrip to get in touch with your innerself. You continue to drop quarters in the Jukebox to listen to some of your favorite classics from the 60's, while sipping down a black/white milkshake. Finally your man (or woman) arrives and George Jackson's song "Aretha, Sing One for Me" comes on the Jukebox. I will let you make up the rest of this story, since it is totally based on imagination. But in order to continue the story you will certainly have to get out and buy Cat Power's "Jukebox"in stores 1.22.08. Below are the track listings. Meanwhile you can enjoy an awesome video of her in the studio performing "Dark End of the Street" (not on the album) - more to come!!! Tracklisting: 1) New York, New York (Frank Sinatra) Written by Fred Ebb/John Kander 2) Ramblin' (Wo)man (Hank Williams) Written by Hank Williams 3) Metal Heart (Cat Power) Written by Chan Marshall 4) Silver Stallion (The HIghwaymen) Written by Lee Clayton 5) Aretha, Sing One For Me (George Jackson) Written by J Harris/Eugene William 6) Lost Someone (James Brown) Written by James Brown/Bobby Byrd/Lloyd Stallworth 7) Lord Help (Jessie Mae Hemphill) Written By Jessie Mae Hemphill 8) I Believe In You (Bob Dylan) Written by Bob Dylan 9) Song To Bobby (a new original song) Written by Chan Marshall 10) Don't Explain (Billie Holiday) Written by Arthur Herzog, Jr./Billie Holiday 11) Woman Left Lonely (Janis Joplin) Written by Spooner Oldham/Dan Penn 12) Blue (Joni Mitchell) Written by Joni Mitchel

Matt Rubano from Taking Back Sunday's Best of 2007
Matt decided that 2007 belongs to Britney Spears! What do you think about that?
Top 10 Miscellaneous of 2007: 1. Most listened to record: Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris. 2. Most listened to song: Rhianna - Umbrella. Whether or not you like this song, it was kind of hard to escape it for a little while, and by little while I mean all of 2007. I didn't really get tired of it though. In fact, I'm going to put it on while I complete the rest of these questions... 3. Best Concert: I'm still not really over the last time I saw Muse play.... OH! And we saw Justin Timberlake's Futuresexloveshow-thing and it was an amazing show. 4. Concert/tour you were most bummed that you missed: Hall and Oates. Usually I'm pretty good at working my modest 'connections' to get into shows for free but I did not know anyone with Hall and Oates hookups. Does this make me cool or uncool? 5. Best musical surprise of the year: Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light. It’s actually no surprise at all that J.E.W. made another great album. ("Now that it’s raining more than ever...." LOVE this song). 6. Worst musical letdown of the year: R. Kelly's 'Real Talk'. Music this ridiculous and sucky deserves an award. 7. Favorite Movie: I’m not gonna lie, I was most excited about Transformers. 8. Favorite TV Show: America's Most Smartest Model. This show has been a long time coming. 9. Best Gadget: The iPhone - It looks so cool I'm afraid of it. I'm waiting until they can implant them into your skull to get one. 10. Person/Thing Blowing Up: I'm glad to see Britney Spears finally getting some attention in the media. '07 really belongs to her. ____________________________________________ Taking Back Sunday on Buzznet: Community | Photos

Alex Deleon from The Cab's Best of 2007
Alex knows what he likes, when he likes something!
Top 10 Albums of 2007: 1. Kevin Michael Self Titled This kid is the future of soul. Got one of the best and most unique voices I've ever heard. 2. Kanye West Graduation Just an all around good hip-hop CD. The Good Life is one of my favorite hip hop songs of the past few years. 3. Maroon 5 It Won't Be Soon Before Long 12 songs on the record, and 12 hits. This CD has no fillers. Maroon 5 is going to go down as one of the biggest bands of our time. 4. Michael Buble Call Me Irresponsible Killer voice and killer CD. As close to a modern day Sinatra as we’re going to see. 5. Lil Wayne Da Drought 3 Clever and witty lyrics on top of catchy straight forward beats makes for one of the best albums of the year. The freestyles on the album are insane. 6. We The Kings Self Titled Straight forward, fun, pop rock. Not to mention these guys are great dudes. They're gonna be huge. 7. Paramore Riot! Hayley's vocals backed by energetic rock gave us something to be excited about in ‘07. Misery Business was one of the best and biggest singles this year. 8. Say Anything In Defense of the Genre Max Bemis is a genius. One of my favorite lyricists of all time. This CD is just fun, creative, and impressive. The tempo changes, guest vocals, and intriguing songs put this CD into a category of its own. 9. Envy on the Coast Lucy Gray I love the singer's voice. He tears it up. With a unique sound backing him up and a great record out on shelves; these guys have a bright future and a lot to look forward to. 10. All Time Low So Wrong, Its Right This band is incredible. They play what they want. They don't play to please anyone and they don't try to be too weird or out there. They just play amazingly catchy pop punk better than anyone else in the scene. This is an album full of feel good pop punk anthems. _________________________________________ The Cab on Buzznet: Community | Photos

December 4, 2007John C. Reilly as Dewey Cox Walked Hard at The Roxy![]() ![]() ![]() As if he were possessed by the ghosts of Elvis and John Candy, John C. Reilly walked hard as Dewey Cox at the Roxy in West Hollywood, CA, on Monday night. Reilly performed around 15 songs from Dewey Cox's lustrious "rock n' roll career," keeping the press and VIP-filled venue groovin'. Actor Chris Parnell and Garbage's Shirley Manson were among the crowd. (I have to admit I was kind of bumbed when Jack White did not make a guest performance and Jason Schwartzman failed to appear in the crowd.) Having said that -- Dewey completely commanded the stage. Rocking a black suit with shiny silver buckles down the side, a red shirt with a flair collar, black cowboy-esque boots and a super tight backup band, Dewey Cox had the rock n' roll style on lock-down! I knew Reilly could sing and dance (after all I did love him as Mr. Cellophane man in "Chicago"), but I definitely found him a thousand times more talented after seeing his "Walk Hard" performance. Out of all the songs performed, the one that evoked the most laughter was "Dear Mr. President" -- a song composed of politically incorrect and offensive statements about midgets, retards, women, Jews and all the other cliche political parodies. My favorite was "Let Me Hold You (Little Man)," this song about midgets had just the right play on words; and it actually felt natural to dance along to! There really was not a dull moment while Dewey was on stage. In between each song he talked about his cox, his fans (Cox suckers) and his many women. He also took a couple shots of tequila, grabbed a photographer's boobs and talked about his life as a rock star; never once breaking character or fooling the crowd that he was just acting. My cheek bones hurt from smiling so hard after watching Dewey's performance and I even told my friend that I actually would have paid to go to this concert! I now officially have jumped on the Dewey Cox bandwagon and am thoroughly looking forward to the release of the film "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" in theaters on December 21, 2007. For more photos of Dewey Cox performing click here.
