Are You Ready For "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"? Have You Chosen Team Jacob Or Team Edward?

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opens up with an image of a moon on screen suggesting the werewolves will come out and Bella's (Kristen Stewart) life is still dark and incomplete. The film ends with Bella taking an exaggerated breath of air, insinuating she will take a leap of faith with Edward. Everything in between is delivered exactly how Team Edward and Team Jacob fans want the plot to go down. [cut=New Moon at last ...]

WARNING: If you are on Team Edward then your biggest let down with the film will be the lack of R. Pattz on screen. And when on screen, he is still as fine as you remember him, but his romantic gestures to Bella are sometimes worth the laugh. The film has even less visuals of Edward (Robert Pattinson), then Stephenie Meyers' book conveys. But, my-o-my does he sparkle on screen.

WARNING: If you are on Team Jacob then you will be disappointed in Taylor Lautner's inability to create on screen chemistry between his character Jacob and Bella. Don't worry, his muscles and abs are as defined as they look in the photos you have seen. In fact Taylor seemed to have focussed so much on his body, that he forgot to focus on acting. Yes you are right in thinking his shirt is off more then 75% of the film.

WARNING: If you are not on Team Edward or Team Jacob, then you should be on the team of people that stay at home instead of going to the movies.

Keeping up with the timeline of "Twilight," the story picks up in the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" exactly where we left off. Right back to the town of Forks, where Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) are in their senior year of high-school, still madly in love and still facing the challenge of their differences in lifestyle.

Bella celebrates her 18th birthday at the Cullen residence and while opening a present she gets a paper-cut, which leads to a dramatic drip of blood, which concurs in a very close call. As a result of this close call, Edward must desert his love for Bella and leave the town of Forks. Edward makes a vow to Bella that she will never see him again and Edward remains true to his word.

Bella toys with the idea that Edward will come back for her if she subjects herself to danger. In effort to bring back Edward and mend her broken heart, she turns to her friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and various dangerous activities that give her an adrenaline rush. Sure, you can kind of play around with the idea that she is depressed, alone and in need of a fix; therefor she becomes an adrenaline junkie.

By no means is "New Moon" comparable to Shakespeare's story of Romeo & Juliet, but when Edward fears that Bella has passed, just like Romeo he makes a dramatic decision to visit the Volturi and change his life. Don't worry we already know there is 3rd film so obviously Edward and Bella both live.

Every great love story has its tragic moments and obstacles. In real life and in the movies. In "Little Mermaid" we witnessed Ariel's longing to be on land, to be with her love, Prince Eric. Ariel gives up her voice for the one she loves. In Disney's "Aladdin," Princess Jasmine has to disobey her family and the rules of being a Princess, to be with the street urchin she fell in love with. These life altering challenges are not intended to make you fear love, rather find appreciation for the passion and desires these characters long for in one another.

Can you really deny yourself from understanding the appeal of a somewhat fantasy-like romance story? Can you find that fan girl or fan boy within you and choose a team?

"New Moon" is by no stretch of the imagination a failure on delivery. "Twilight" introduced the franchise and the obsession by bringing girls their Jacob and their Edward and their perfectly pitched love story - all on a dazzling silver platter. Twilighters and Twi-Hards are among the most hardcore group of "Twilight" fans. We don't call fans of 'Twilight' - Twi-Hards, because they just sit and wait for the next film. Most have read all the books. They have gone to the gas station to get gas, but instead purchased the pen with R. Pattz's face on it.

Director Chris Weitz knew the audience and "New Moon" feeds the fans just what they need to hold themselves over until they
a) go see the film a second time in theatres,
b) wait for it to release on DVD before re-watching it a lot of times, or
c) decorate their ceiling in "New Moon" posters and subscribe to every 'Twilight' related twitter alert, to stay in the know on everything.

Some may find it unfortunate that the plot of the 'New Moon' novel constrained the film to deliver on the crazy-in-love, fairytale like energy that made "Twilight" such a guilty pleasure to watch. Others may find the introduction of the Volturi, the new characters, the wolf pack and the action packed werewolves vs vampire fights just enough to fulfill their "Twilight" fixation.

I am interested in what you think. What you expect? What will make or break the film for you?

I will wait until the film hits theatres on November 20th to reveal my extremely opinionated review. For now, I will start my 222 day countdown for the release of "Eclipse" and continue to replay the Bon Iver and Death Cab For Cutie tracks on the "New Moon" soundtrack. [/cut]

Wes Anderson's "Fantastic Mr. Fox" Is Truly Fabulous

Fantastic Mr. Fox is truly fantastic. I can't claim to remember the Roald Dahl book perfectly, but the film certainly offers a fun and corky plot line, with witty foxes whom have human like characteristics and lifestyles. Wes Anderson took adaptations and visions both from what a kid and an adult would take from a story such as Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'. [cut=Learn how fabulous Mr. Fox is ...]

Mr. Fox (voiced by George Clooney) and Mrs. Fox (Meryl Streep) are middle aged-married foxes, coping with Mr. Fox's unhappiness with his job and urge to re-capture his youth and "old ways". Their son (Ash - Jason Schwartzman) dresses as a super hero, can't get the girls, struggles to live up to his father's sporting achievements and resents his cousin (Kristofferson- Eric Anderson), who is athletically and socially better then him.

The supporting cast members are a collection of awkward misfits, working as estate agents, lawyers and pediatricians and business men. Don't be surprised when you recognize the voices of all of them! Remember Wes Anderson has a particular protocol for who does what in his films. In other words, he never falls short of high profile actors with extreme personalities to play his roles. Entertainment at its finest, if you ask me!

I will let you decide for yourself, but Jason Schwartzman's character in my opinion was the most on point casted role. Remember the dork in Rushmore or the awkwardness of Jason in bed with Kirsten Dunst in Maria Antoinette? Well take those roles for Jason and imagine a dorky fox character with his voice.

Do you recall George Clooney in Ocean's Eleven? He needed to get one last job done, he needed to build the right team and have the right plan. Well you can expect to find similar tendencies in the character of Mr. Fox.

The visual aspect of the movie was very well done. It isn't your typical animated, 3d like effect you see in most Pixar and Disney movies these days. Instead it kept the look and feel of a coloring book, with countryside colors and somewhat of a claymation feel to it. The most colorful parts of the film are the foxes and the scenes that are filmed at Ash's (Jason Schwartzman) school.

The plot is pretty fantastic for Wes Anderson to work with. The characters offer similar humor to that of his characters in Darjeeling Limited and The Royal Tenenbaums; but of course we are talking about animated pictures and foxes (not humans). This is not a story about your typical fox family and so it does make sense that Wes Anderson found this book compelling to create a film out of. As demonstrated in most of his films, but more specifically The Royal Tenenbaums, Wes Anderson works well with stories about family dysfunction and the coming of age. Anderson works the deviant characteristics of these foxes into a story that children will perceive as a lesson well learned and adults will find refreshingly funny.

Like usual in Wes Anderson films, the music plays a large role and is perfect to the par in theme with the characters and the witty punchlines. The soundtrack is fun and upbeat and a little edgy at all the appropriate times.

All in all, I would say spend that $12.00 and treat yourself to a fabulous film. If you have a little sibling, bring them with you, because unlike Where The Wild Things Are - this film will appeal to all ages.

The ever-so classic sounding Tahiti 80 graced us with their pop and presence at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA last night. I was smitten over Xavier's vocals. The show was tasteful, elegant and captivating. I had the chills and it felt really good. Did I mention already that they are French and this was really rare and awesome to see them live!

Tahiti 80 has been making powerful pop music with disco beats and dancy synths, since 1996. Are you shocked? Are you curious? You should be.

If you can handle taking a break from the also amazing French pop band Phoenix, then I strongly suggest giving your ears a taste of Tahiti 80. They have a similar appeal in sound. My head hurts from wondering so hard why Tahiti 80 never really has been a break out band in the US. Can we please all start the revolution together and devote ourselves to Tahiti 80's breakout!?!

Michael Jackson's Film "This Is It", Is Really It

Just as Michael said in the film, you've got to feel it. This Is It is a documentary-style film, directed by Kenny Ortega and created from the backstage footage captured during Michael Jackson' Los Angeles rehearsals for his comeback tour. This Is It, is really all about the love, the L.O.V.E. If you are a fan of Michael Jackson's greatest hits then this is the movie for you. At times it is hard to stay in your seat and not get up and dance. [cut=More details ...]

This film is truly amazing and it is really great that it was able to be executed. Michael Jackson was booked to perform 50 sold-out shows for an audience of over a million people at London's Millennium Dome. This was scheduled to be his comeback tour after over a decade of absence on stage. On June 25, 2009 - Michael Jackson had a fatal cardiac arrest and this left his fans all over the world, his family and of course all of those that were working on this tour in a state of disbelief.

You will be amazed at how much Michael Jackson still has the moves and still has the voice we recall him having in his recordings. I was most moved when watching the scenes for 'Human Nature' and 'Man In the Mirror'. The most impressive set designs and choreographed dancing were demonstrated through the rehearsal footage for 'Thriller', 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' and 'Smooth Criminal'. I enjoyed his interactions with his band and his dancers and even found a lot of his dialogue humorous at times.

It is certainly a tragedy that all the dancers and artists that were scheduled to be a part of the MJ tour in London were not able to hit the big stage, but this film puts everyone a part of it in a position of credibility and recognition. You will get the chills up your spine when you hear the Australian guitarist, Orianthi perform 'Bad'. She makes it look like she is playing a game of guitar hero, when in actuality she is playing the anthem to pop-culture in the 90's. You will laugh when you hear the keyboardist, Mo Pleasure interact with MJ and talk about "booty". Overall, your heart will feel touched by the community-like collaborative efforts, put forth by everyone on stage with Michael. This is no reality TV show, so stay at home if you are looking for an episode of Making The Band or America's Next Best Dance Crew.

Michael Jackson will always and forever be an iconic figure in the history of pop and dance music. Don't believe me, see This Is It to understand the hardwork, the dedication, the creativity and the passion Michael puts into his music and his performances. After-all, his dancers are shooting up from the stage at toaster-oven speed, not elevator speed. His band is directed to let it "simmer". The production staff takes their cues from MJ himself. This is a no joke production, in fact everything you would dream a performance for Michael Jackson would be, was scheduled to take place. He does it for the fans and This Is It is for the fans to understand MJ's artistic process. From Michael Jackson's sparkly on stage outfits, to his nose jobs, to his high-pitched feminine like voice; we all have something that we have been skeptical or intrigued about when thinking of Michael. Well This Is It, puts the man we all wish we understood a little bit more, on the big screen in a professional, humorous and artistic manner. Get to know Michael Jackson in the light he should be remembered.
