You Are Being Prescribed The Powerful Sounds Of The French Pop Band, Tahiti 80

If I had my PhD in music, then I would say that you need a prescription for some Tahiti 80 music. Your ears look a little weak and your heart needs a little more electronic-soul. I am going to start you off on something catchy and beautiful, Tahiti 80's most popular track 'Heartbeat'. [cut=Get your prescription filled ...]

Then you should start your intake of music off of Tahiti 80's albums Wallpaper for the Soul, Fosbury and Puzzle.

Are you obsessed yet with Xavier Boyer's voice yet? Here is a free download Tahiti 80 has provided for a song called 'Good Boy'.

You should be ready for their fourth album, Activity Center, which comes out in the US on November 24th.

The ever-so classic sounding Tahiti 80 graced us with their pop and presence at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA last night. I was smitten over Xavier's vocals. The show was tasteful, elegant and captivating. I had the chills and it felt really good. Did I mention already that they are French and this was really rare and awesome to see them live!

Tahiti 80 has been making powerful pop music with disco beats and dancy synths, since 1996. Are you shocked? Are you curious? You should be.

If you can handle taking a break from the also amazing French pop band Phoenix, then I strongly suggest giving your ears a taste of Tahiti 80. They have a similar appeal in sound. My head hurts from wondering so hard why Tahiti 80 never really has been a break out band in the US. Can we please all start the revolution together and devote ourselves to Tahiti 80's breakout!?!

Oh and that prescription I gave you, does not expire. In fact, there is not really a way to overdose! [/cut]

Forrest: Just undies. And a diaper. And a catheter.

Buzznet: What was the last dream you had?

Forrest: NSFW.

Buzznet: Do you have a morning bathroom routine?

Forrest: If so what does it entail from when you get out of bed until you are dressed for the day? enter sweatpants, granola and coffee, colbert report.

Buzznet: Who was your first kiss? Details ... How old were you? Where were you?

Forrest: I was 7, living in oregon and i played house with a girl. I forget her name though... I got home from work and we got down and dirty with a smooch.

Buzznet: What do you have hanging on your walls in your bedroom?

Forrest: Some Ashley G drawings in Ikea frames, some camping photos from central Cali in crazy brocade frames that are really heavy hung above our heads.

Buzznet: Are you superstitious about anything, if so what and why?

Forrest: If my left hand gets wet i gotta get my right hand wet and stuff like that. Is that a superstition?

Buzznet: What movie do you watch when you are sad?

Forrest: Encino Man

Buzznet: If you were to stop aging at a certain point of your life and then live-forever at that age, what age would you want that to be?

Forrest: A week ago, just before my testicles fell out. It was a magical time.

Buzznet: Do you have any scars? If so what happened? If not name one imperfection on your body?

Forrest: I have scar on the inside of my left bicept from a hot exhaust on a go cart. I was 11 and trying to tweak in that engine for optimum performance.

Buzznet: If you could travel back in time and have a chat with the you of 10 years ago, what advice would you give yourself?

Forrest: Nothing matters ever at all.

Buzznet: If it were your last meal ever, what would you feast on?

Forrest: Pure desert. Vegan cakes and treats galore!

Buzznet: If you could DJ any celebrities party who would it be and what song would you play when they entered?

Forrest: Brandon Flowers and I'd play a song by friend Andy Richards home recording project "gogo fiaso" because Andys obsessed and I wanna see a dream of his come true.

Buzznet: What was your first job? What was your worst job?

Forrest: First and worst was pearl art store.
Michael Jackson's Film "This Is It", Is Really It

Just as Michael said in the film, you've got to feel it. This Is It is a documentary-style film, directed by Kenny Ortega and created from the backstage footage captured during Michael Jackson' Los Angeles rehearsals for his comeback tour. This Is It, is really all about the love, the L.O.V.E. If you are a fan of Michael Jackson's greatest hits then this is the movie for you. At times it is hard to stay in your seat and not get up and dance. [cut=More details ...]

This film is truly amazing and it is really great that it was able to be executed. Michael Jackson was booked to perform 50 sold-out shows for an audience of over a million people at London's Millennium Dome. This was scheduled to be his comeback tour after over a decade of absence on stage. On June 25, 2009 - Michael Jackson had a fatal cardiac arrest and this left his fans all over the world, his family and of course all of those that were working on this tour in a state of disbelief.

You will be amazed at how much Michael Jackson still has the moves and still has the voice we recall him having in his recordings. I was most moved when watching the scenes for 'Human Nature' and 'Man In the Mirror'. The most impressive set designs and choreographed dancing were demonstrated through the rehearsal footage for 'Thriller', 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' and 'Smooth Criminal'. I enjoyed his interactions with his band and his dancers and even found a lot of his dialogue humorous at times.

It is certainly a tragedy that all the dancers and artists that were scheduled to be a part of the MJ tour in London were not able to hit the big stage, but this film puts everyone a part of it in a position of credibility and recognition. You will get the chills up your spine when you hear the Australian guitarist, Orianthi perform 'Bad'. She makes it look like she is playing a game of guitar hero, when in actuality she is playing the anthem to pop-culture in the 90's. You will laugh when you hear the keyboardist, Mo Pleasure interact with MJ and talk about "booty". Overall, your heart will feel touched by the community-like collaborative efforts, put forth by everyone on stage with Michael. This is no reality TV show, so stay at home if you are looking for an episode of Making The Band or America's Next Best Dance Crew.

Michael Jackson will always and forever be an iconic figure in the history of pop and dance music. Don't believe me, see This Is It to understand the hardwork, the dedication, the creativity and the passion Michael puts into his music and his performances. After-all, his dancers are shooting up from the stage at toaster-oven speed, not elevator speed. His band is directed to let it "simmer". The production staff takes their cues from MJ himself. This is a no joke production, in fact everything you would dream a performance for Michael Jackson would be, was scheduled to take place. He does it for the fans and This Is It is for the fans to understand MJ's artistic process. From Michael Jackson's sparkly on stage outfits, to his nose jobs, to his high-pitched feminine like voice; we all have something that we have been skeptical or intrigued about when thinking of Michael. Well This Is It, puts the man we all wish we understood a little bit more, on the big screen in a professional, humorous and artistic manner. Get to know Michael Jackson in the light he should be remembered.

Phish Festival 8 Is One Of The Hot Spots To Be On Halloween 2009

For the first time ever, Phish will combine two of its most cherished traditions - the Phish festival and the band's Halloween event - in a massive three-day celebration Festival 8. Held October 30th, 31st and November 1st at The Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA., Festival 8 marks several additional firsts: it is Phish's first three-day festival, its first held on the West Coast and it will be the first time that a single band has played consecutive dates at the venue. [cut=The scene this Halloween ...]

If you are not familiar with Phish then you obvioussly know nothing about the jam band scene. Phish is kind of the pioneer of jam bands. I know what you are thinking, great we have them to thank for all the fake-hippy nonsense that develops these days. But, that is really not it. Phish is actually an extremely talented band, that just takes a very specefic set of ear buds to tolerate.

Anyway, I have never burnt my bras for the war not going on, but I am not going to deny how much I used to love myself a great Phish show. I am totally curious to see how one band is going to takeover the grounds where 150 bands unite in the Spring for Coachella. I am going to be attending Phish on Halloween and capturing all the most ridiculous moments and most memorable costumes at the festival. I figure what better place to be then in the desert among thousands of costumes at a 3 day festival!

If you are in the area and curious at all, here are the details ...

Some Bands I Would Love To See Breakthrough After Playing CMJ 2009

You don't have to be at CMJ to be in the know about the upcoming buzzworthy bands. Sure CMJ is a pretty epic display of developing to antique artists showcasing themselves to the music industry and like-type folks in New York City for about 5 straight days of non-stop back-to-back shows. It is undeniably a really fun time, a drunken time, a time for networking over a cheers and a time to collect as many business cards as you can to impress your co-workers.

Anyway, I am sad to say that this year I am not at CMJ, but that certainly did not stop my mailbox from overflowing the last few weeks with the need-to-knows about CMJ parties, first time shows and baby bands about to burst.

So here it goes, in no particular order, a list that is not only bands I wish I was seeing live this week at CMJ, but bands that I think you (whoever you are) outta check out. Just google these bands, a myspace page or a hypem free mp3 is bound to show up. [cut =Bands ...]

_________________

UNICYCLE LOVES YOU - Vacation music in my opinion. But, thats cool cause everyone needs a distracting sound or two once in a while to take their mind off of something. Unicycle Loves You sounds like a throwback to the 60's mashed with the music Tom Cruise would play behind the bar in the movie Cocktail. What genre are they? I am going to consider them - pool party poppy.

EVAN VOYTAS - My favorite track by Evan Voytas is 'What Would I Do That For?' Evan's music is youthful and flirtatious. Sick of Passion Pit. Dig Autolux? Get your Evan Voytas on.

CHOIR OF YOUNG BELIEVERS - This Is For The White In Your Eyes - I really dig this album. My favorite track is 'Action/Reaction'. It's kind of melancholy, but songs like 'Why Must It Always Be This Way' and 'She Walks' remind me of Band Of Horses meets 1/4 of Radiohead's 'Amnesiac'.

SURF CITY - They say pink is the new black, but I am going to say that 2009 is the new Beach Boy. A lot of the bands I have been digging on and are digging up the origins of the original shoegaze mainstream pop sound.

FANFARLO - This is def one of my favorite bands I have discovered in 2009. Their album Reservoir is not one to miss. Listen to 'Fire Escape'. For some reason I find this band patriotic, but in an acceptable matter. I am not talking totally poppy, like cheerleaders and pom-poms, rather trumpets, violins and mandolin sounds to have a somewhat marching band spirited effect on the ear.

DAM-FUNK - Earlier this year Dam-Funk remixed Animal Collective's 'Summertime Clothes'. DJ sets pretty often in LA. Dam-Funk can get a dance party started and is a great in between set, vibe-keeping DJ.

CHAMPAGNE CHAMPAGNE - Raise your glasses and make a toast, because you might want to be under the influence a bit to take down the music of Champagne Champagne. This is not a bad thing, in fact I predict this band might go over well with the CMJ attendees. I can't imagine this band not making a decent amount of music fans heads bubble a little. Happy go lucky music for sure, totally weird too. They have a song called 'Molly Ringwald' - come on, don't you want to give them a shot?

FREE ENERGY - I will suggest that you give the song 'Dream City' a listen first, let that be your first taste of Free Energy. They have a young sound. I could see Free Energy appealing to fans of 3OH!3 or even fans of VHS or BETA.

SURFER BLOOD - The new Kanine Records artist and Kanine never fails me, at least not in 2009, with their signing of my boys in Blind Man's Colour and of course their more reputable artist release of 2009 - Grizzly Bear's Vecktamist. If Garden State 2 were to release in 2010 I would say that Natalie Portman would be digging on Surfer Blood the way she dug on The Shins. Surfer Blood will be touring after CMJ with Japandroids, which they too have made a little name for themselves. Listen and download their track 'Floating Vibes'. Their harmony is pretty smooth. Very interested in their live show. Will they be as tightly composed and as in-sync?

RUMSPRINGA - As I have said before and I will say again, any band that covers The Seeds is making the right moves in my book. Rumspringa has been signed to Cantora Records, making them label mates with MGMT. I am going to say that if MGMT can't pull through on more 'Electric Feel' like tunes with their new album, then leave your desire to hear fun loopy, cleanly collaborative instrumentals and catchy choruses up to Rumspringa.

Behind Closed Doors: Leighton Meester Enjoys Fresh Flowers, Clean Fingernails And "True Blood"

Buzznet caught up with Leighton Meester in honor of the release of her new danceable single 'Somebody To Love', a collab with singer/songwriter Robin Thicke. The Gossip Girl's previous foray into music, you probably remember, was guest vocals for Cobra Starship's radio hit 'Good Girls Go Bad'. Teaming up was fun, but the TV actress has been in and out of the studio, writing and recording her own stuff. Find out what Leighton has to say about boys and love, Behind Closed Doors. It's no suprise that she believes in "undeniable chemistry"--how else would she nail the part of Queen B and Chuck Bass' lover on the CW's best show? [cut=XOXO, listen to what Leighton has to say ...]

Buzznet: Do you have a morning bathroom routine? If so what does it entail from when you get out of bed until you are dressed for the day?

Leighton: I do exactly what everyone does, my butler brings me breakfast in bed, and I get up when my massage is over. Obviously not the case, I wake up early usually but occasionally get days when I can sleep in, so by that time, it's unfortunate to say, I check my phone and emails. Then I shower, clean my face with la roche posay and dr haushka products, chanel also makes a great foaming cleanser, brush my teeth, I decide what to wear, which is really fun because I have a huge, fairly organized closet, my apartment's best feature. If I have time I make a coffee. But I'm usually out the door within 30.

Buzznet: Who was your first kiss? Details ... How old were you? Where were you?

Leighton: I was 16, a guy I knew through friends from school, he was walking me home from the movies, and I honestly was so nervous and couldn't believe I was getting my first kiss, so I don't remember much else but turning around and running home. People would always play spin the bottle and truth or dare but I never went through with it when it was my turn because I didn't want that to be my first kiss. My friend from middle school and I were talking about that recently, we were pretty much not interested in guys at that age.

Buzznet: What do you have hanging on your walls in your bedroom? Posters? Artwork?

Leighton: I have a beautiful oil painting my best friend/boyfriend had made for me. He told the artist about me, my favorite colors and poetry and she painted a large very special abstract work I have hanging in my dining room. It came with a disc of the music she listened to while painting it.

Buzznet: Do you have any fetishes? Any pet-peeves?

Leighton: I don't like when people bite their nails, or have dirty fingernails. Fetishes? I have things I love like fresh flowers and chocolate always on hand, as well as my obsession with True Blood.

Buzznet: What is the first quality you look for in the opposite sex?

Leighton: It's usually when I'm not looking, something about someone will catch me off guard. I love talent and intelligence. I believe in undeniable chemistry, it's the strongest, most inexplicable attraction.

Buzznet: What do you wear to sleep at night?

Leighton: Nothing

Buzznet: Do you have a nickname?

Leighton: Lei, Lil Lei, Lei-Lei, Meenster, Meest, Mom...

Buzznet: What was your first job? What was your worst job?

Leighton: My first job was when I was eleven! I was in the newspaper in a Bloomingdale's ad. It was when I first moved to New York, I had no idea what I was doing. I've been acting since then, and working non-stop since I was about 18, so I can't complain. I've been writing and recording music for almost four years, and that's been the outlet that's caused so much growth in me. I babysat a lot as a teenager too.

Buzznet: What song do you know every word to, but are totally embarrassed that you know so well?

Leighton: 'Without You' by Mariah Carey, but I have no shame, I've listened to it to find emotion for scenes.

Buzznet: Which era do you most wish you lived in and why?

Leighton: I love ancient Roman history, my mom read us books about it when we were kids. The Roman Republic was so advanced scientifically. I love living now. People live similarly in every era. Wake up in the morning, eat, work, love, entertain yourself. I like the essence of the beat movement, I love love, and admire the movement of equality, freedom of expression, and change.

Buzznet: Do you have any scars? If so what happened? If not name one imperfection on your body?

Leighton: I have a scar on my forehead from falling off the bed when I was a baby, my big brother has it too.

Buzznet: When you hear the word “oatmeal” what is the very first thing that comes to your mind?

Leighton: Raisin.

Buzznet has caught up with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer to play a little game of word association. You know, the game where we say something and Rivers responds with the first thing that comes to his (very special) mind. [cut=Watch and see ...]

When we threw out the term "Katy Perry," the first thing that came to Rivers' mind was the studio. Rivers informed us that he and the cherry Chapstick-loving pop star will be hitting the recording studio next week to write and possibly record material for her new album! Rivers, said, "We're writing together next week. Can't wait!"

Now watch the video and see for yourself what Rivers says when we say "Megan Fox" and "Raditude."
